Description

The Ferrari F430 was the replacement for the famous 360 Modena. It is a high-performance exotic car that comes in coupe or convertible. The new two-seat sports car was substantially more powerful. It is largely handmade in Italy and features many aerodynamic enhancements to its exterior. It comes standard with antilock brakes, an electronic stability system and traction control.

Largely hand-built in Italy like other Ferraris, the F430 features an aerodynamic shape that incorporates contemporary competition technologies — specifically, a flat underbody and a large rear diffuser, which increases downforce. Upper and lower air intakes sit to the rear of each door. An enormous, nearly flat back window allows the V-8 to be seen from the outside.

Several innovations were derived from Ferrari’s Formula One racecars. Two of them were “world firsts” for production cars: the E-Diff electronic differential, which optimizes traction, and the steering-wheel-mounted commutator switch, which controls the vehicle dynamics systems.

The F430's 4.3-liter V8 is mounted amidships and with 483 hp at 8,500 rpm and 343 pound-feet of torque at 5,250 rpm, which results in a weight-to-power ratio of 6.2 pounds per horsepower. This DOHC V-8 engine uses a flat-plane crank and the Enzo’s variable valve timing system. The immediate advantage is 23 percent more power and 25 percent higher torque than the 360 Modena. Output is amazing for a naturally aspirated engine of relatively modest size. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed F1 style paddle shift manual transmission.

When the whip is cracked, this thoroughbred will gallop to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds and top out just shy of 200 mph.
